1. Yes, you should. Sand it right down to the metal if you can.
2. Please be more descriptive. Do you already have the window in?

ok i am going to put in the window but i dont know what to use to keep it in place (or the rubber thing that is between the plexy glass and the metal(case).

Also what do you recommend using to sand it i dont want to spen too much cash.

well if the window is not in the case already, what is the problem? The black stuff in molding. U can use painters tape, or blue tape, and to sand it down u can use a orbital sander. It is about $30 to rent one.

I picked up my molding from an auto shop. It was $5 and my window is 8"x11" and I still have about 1' 1/2" left. You can use an exacto knife to cut the plexi then snap it. Although a lot of people dont like to use that method. I used real glass and just secured it to the inside with silicone caulk.

To cut the plexi i would use a jigsaw or a bandsaw (granted you have access to one). I would only recomend these methods if you haven't already removed the protctive paper/film from the window. If you have you risk scratching the heck out of the window ( and we dont' want that now do we)

If you've already removed any protective paper/film from the plexi, I'd use a dremel.

Hope this helps.
