hey guys,
i just upgraded Windows 7 on my HP Mini 210 netbook and can no longer change the screen brightness.
i upgraded from Windows 7 Starter x86 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
which driver is responsible for this function?
I've done some googling and:
i can see the brightness bar in the power options (control panel) but it does not change the brightness of the screen no matter where i drag it
i've installed the Fn keys driver for the netbook: the volume up/down/mute, wireless button all work except for the brightness button.
would be open to any help whatsoever :)
thanks,
Richard

My best guess is there is software that needs to be installed along with it. I don't have a HP myself, so I can't tell you for sure. That is quite odd that Windows can't natively change it.

the button just doesn't work anymore...and the brightness bar in the power options doens't change anything when i move it.
i just format+reinstalled win7 again so i'll see how it goes.
maybe it can't take 64 bit... but that's just nuts.
EDIT: before i reinstalled i left it on a very low brightness setting and now i can hardly see anything :(
but somehow...i just let it restart, and it looks like full brightness now.
still got any ideas? :)

What is "this"? Please explain what it is/does.

it's the quick launch button software. i've already installed it, in fact that was the first thing i installed after the re-install.
but i was thinking...it shouldn't be a windows option. the increase/decrease/mute volume buttons all worked before i installde any software - shouldn't these buttons be tied with the laptop itself?

Have you tried the specific Intel driver for it? http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Internet+Devices&ProductLine=Netbooks&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Atom%E2%84%A2+processor +for+netbooks&ProdId=3188&LineId=3170&FamilyId=3169

thanks for the link,
yeah, the only software that shoes up on the website is the graphics which i already have :(
what is the chance that the button SOMEHOW broke coincidentally when i was installing Windows?
but i only just got this netbook 2 weeks ago

quick launch button software
it still doens't work
all the volume/media buttons worked before i installed the quick launch buttons...but i don't know why the screen brightness button didn't.
i could mute the thing, turn off wireless...etc before i installed any driver. wonder why the brightness buttons don't work anymore
Have you tried calling their tech support? >.>

i guess i could. i was just wondering if i was missing something really obvious.
i'll call tech support if i still can't find any solution.
if this is software related...maybe there's other software on the web that can change screen brightness for me?
