Before you blame the drive did you run a memtest and turn off your overclock to make sure those are not factors??
After you check those out, how long has this drive been in service, did you hdderase RESET it?

the drive has been in service for less than a week,
all ive done is install it and then added win 7
ive restored the clocks to default and its still the same

Nothings perfect, do a RESET with hdderase (google for a guide on resetting ssds) then go from there.
Try it in another system and If its still slow rma it.

its not faulty, its just slow at shutting down
what could cause this ?
ive ran benchmarks and the speed of the drive is good

Have you tried updating the BIOS? It could be some weird compatibility issue.

like ive mentioned, the speeds are all good its just the shutdown thats the issue.
there is a tool ive downloaded and it logs the time it takes to shut down and restart.
thats what the issue is, not the read speed or write speed.
you see if i was to reinstall win7 again, its it a case of just reinstalling or is there more to it with ssd's ? do i format ? and reinstall ? when i first installed the os i never formatted or anything, just installed right on

did u do any of the ssd tweaks? in particular i know one of the tweaks includes clearing the page file at shutdown which can really slowdown shutdown times. it would have been a registry tweak.

Aw man dude. That bites. If you come to any conclusions about it let me know. I just bought an X25-V for my boot drive but the system isn't up and running yet. Fingers crossed I don't have this issue.
I do however remember reading in the reviews for the drive on Newegg that most people updated the drive before anything else to fix problems everyone else was seeming to have. An example being:
Cons: 1. Update firmware asap, I tried to sneek by without doing it and the beast ate memory off 2 drives. Mine was OEM so they might be shipping these out with the new firmware ??
Also, if I'm not mistaken the firmware it's loaded with out of the box doesn't support TRIM.
Don't know bro. If you find an answer, let me know.

the tweek u are taking about is unticked
If your bootup is good and your benchmarks are good, it's possible a piece of software is hanging on shutdown.

ive read that its possible for creative xfi drivers to cause your system to hang on shutdown, has anyone else read this ? cant seem to find a work around for it tho
still in same boat...and its really really bugging me
If the drive boots and benches normally, then yeah, it's probably not drive related but rather some software delaying the shutdown. That could easily be checked by cloning the volume to another drive and seeing how that one shuts down.
In ye olden days, sometimes cthelper could cause a delayed shutdown but that's not included anymore. Consider other installed software -some process or service might stand out as the culprit.
Does everthing look normal in Device Manager?
