Was anybody else following the cryptic Portal game updates on Steam earlier this week? Man that was an awesome way to reveal the game.

+1, I was about an hour into Ep2 then got distracted and never went back to finish it.

Apparently Portal2 will be a standalone game and not packaged with other games (read that in a linked article off of Digg) so we will have to see if that goes through or not. Will be interesting if there is co-op.

I love TF2. It's not the same as the mod no but I really do love it. Well at least I did... When it first came out I could max it out easily at >100fps but now I max it out at just over 30fps...? Shoddy work by valve, first time I've seen it as well.

I think so many people didn't play Ep. 2 because it came out the same time as Portal and Team Fortress 2. :p

I must be the odd ball then since the only reason I have Portal and TF2 was because I didn't want to wait to download Ep. 2 and the gamestop near my house only had the orange box :)

DAY 1: THE RADIO TRANSMISSIONS - 26 dinosaur sound files

Each of the in-game radios has a new freaky sound upon their vaporization, and for each one, another unique sound — sometimes morse code, but deep within most of the latter, images were actually encoded. Using fancy stenography software, Facepunch has been able to decode them. On the third and tenth images, a string of numbers — a BBS phone number — was unveiled. Upon dialing it with one of these antique modems, ASCII images are sent to your terminal. We suspect Valve is slowly releasing Portal 2 / Episode 3 artwork through it. BBS images are further down this thread.

Heh, they have given us so much TF2 content for free over the last couple years that most companies would have just called that TF3 and charged $50 for it.

Like I said before: All the extra stuff they've given us it's made the game amazingly inefficient (Crysis level of inefficiency)
I would prefer to have the original game back and to have the ability to run >100fps.

What are you doing? I run the game 100-140fps all the time at 1680x1050. Even if you are running 1980x1200, it shouldn't be running that slow. Fix your stuff man ;)

As for Portal 2, I am pretty damn excited, especially after finding out about
that in ep2 portal and HL share the same universe, and that ep3 and portal 2 most likely will be very closely connected

Maps like Koth_vinduct really slows it down. And it only really slows down when there's about 30 players or over.
Oh and I run with all the console graphic mods (things such as mat_picmip -10)

About Portal 2. It's going to be interesting but I just don't know how they'll pull it off.

You go outside at the end. Will we be using portals in the real world? I played through HL2 with portals and I have to say it's really quite poor.
We'll see what happens though

Awesome.....looking forward to this for sure.
Just played through Portal and Portal Prelude not too long ago.

In regards to the HL episodes...
I actually thought EP2 was better than EP1 (maybe even EP0)...call me crazy...

Episode 1 was terrible =P I still think EP0 was the best. It doesn't beat the original half life but does try VERY hard =P

What the hell is half life?
I'm assuming this is a joke.

I didn't finish EP 1 or 2, if it hadn't been for Portal I would have regarded the Orange Box as the point where Valve completely turned into Id Software.

This news got me excited enough to re-install the full HL franchise. I downloaded the 10GB fakefactory mod for HL2, which does a gorgeous job of helping me forget that the game is as old as it is.
