I bought one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102866 for a good price(will be $105 after rebate). Just wondering how would 2 of these do in Crossfire? I have it clocked at 800mhz core/800mhz memory right now(i know I can go higher though.)

What would they compare to?

hmmm about a 4890. It would be a bit better than a 4890. maybe 5-15 more fps then a 4890 can produce

A 4850x2 is competitive with a 5850 so dual 4860's should be quite fast.

Well, that is only with the games that support dual GPU well..

With the way it's done these days, alot of that is done in the drivers now. So it doesn't entirely matter if the game supports it or not. (Not like it used to)

And wow...how have I never heard of a 4860 before?

EDIT: I wonder if these were just a limited thing made to use up the cores that couldn't manage being a full 4890?

Crossfire is extremely well supported these days. Games like Bad Company 2 are coming out with exceptional crossfire support right from day 1 and the way they are doing crossfire profile updates separate from driver updates is even better. ATI's last 3 flagship cards have all been dual-GPU cards, ATI takes crossfire support seriously.

i had a couple 4860's i got for some friends that needed upgrades.

if u clock a 4860 to 4890 clocks its basically a 4890 with 640 SP instead of 800

2 of them in CF will be ALOT faster than 10-15fps over a single 4890.

I believe sapphire is the only company that makes them. I have mine clocked close to 4890 speeds now(850 core/850 memory)Temps in Afterburner around 44 C w/fan set at 65%. I really don't game that much, but if it goes down to $105 again, I may get another 1 just to say I have a crossfire setup to go into my new rig.

hey chaos just to tell you those clocks arent close to what the 4890 can do. I have mine at 950 core and 1015 mem.

we know the 4890 can OC past stock clocks my friend, remember though, the 4860 can do 4890 stock clocks and sometimes further and it costs $105. Don't forget :)

I wasn't talking about OCing the 4890-I was talking about getting a $105 card to 4890 speeds..
