Hi guys !

i was wondering what would happen if i place a 80watt TEC in between my q9550 and my heatsink (cogage arrow)... what happens with the heat that the TEC cant displace ??????

80w is not nearly enough to handle a quad so it would overheat and kill your cpu. you would need a much higher wattage such as 220+ which would also mean getting better cooling for it i.e water.

so what happens exactly with the remaining wattage that the TEC cant displace? for example a 80watt TEC with a 100Watt cpu... what happens with the remaining 20 watt?

Keeps getting hotter and hotter until all the magic smoke gets let out of everything. Pretty stinky when that happens.

If the TEC cannot handle the heat load the ceramic in contact with your CPU temperature will begin to rise and eventually reach some steady-stage temperature.

As mentioned, this usually results in Smoke.
