I'm using wpa2 encryption and I need to hook my sisters old laptop up wireless. But it only gives the option for wep networks. I don't want to redo my security settings so how do I update her laptop? ( Windows xp 32-bit in case anyone is wondering) Is there a utility I can use to connect? Or a security update or something? Any help is appreciated.

That will mostly depend on wireless adapter. Check its tech specs to see if its capable of using WPA2. Or post the model # here

This it. Think updating the driver will help?

Your link takes me to the main service and support page. I doubt updating the driver will help if the adapter is already working but not capable of WPA2. But I could be wrong.

Well what should I do?

And I'm pretty sure this is the wireless adapter: http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/wireless/prowireless_mobile.htm

What is the exact model of laptop also can you give specifics on the model of Intel Wireless. There are a ton of different models of Intel Wireless cards out there.

If the card is b/g or a/b/g then it should be capable of at least WPA as it is part of the 802.11g specification. A driver update in addition to using the Intel Wireless configuration tool, should do the trick. However, if the card is only 802.11b, then it will only support WEP.

As far as updates go, make sure you have the system updated it to SP3 and also have all current recommended updates.

Just download and install the Intel ProSet Wireless software from the Intel site. That should take care of things.
