Hey,

Finally switched/replaced me old thrustworthy 8800 Ultra.
I was thinking earlier to replace it with a 4870 I had laying about but now
I got a HD 4890 from a friend really cheap, new aswell. (160$)
At least I think that was cheap for a brand new card.

This way I can wait for the real powerful cards once I got the money...or a complete re-build,my CPU isnt exatley new... but it kicks ass:) (lol)

Not the ideal upgrade but it will do for now.
Installed it lastnight, looking forward to bench it, and see performance gain in all my games:)

Any thoughts?

I would go with one of the 5000 series. The DX11 support is worth the extra moniez.
Also with 3.8GHz you should be looking at a 5850 to avoid any bottleneck.

Right now the 5770 is best bang for buck. If you can wait a little longer until nVidia's Fermi is released the price will drop further. Having said that my current 4850 does just fine in any game I run as my screen only supports up to 1680 x 1050 anyways.

A 4890 for $160 is both a good price, and an unbeatable price/performance ratio. Well done!

Hi,

Iam very happy for now with the 4890, I call it the halfway upgrade:)
So this will do until I need further upgrades, and I am not buying until atleast the fermi's been out for a while.

Thanks for input guys.
