View Full Version : Dual Processors
I have an Abit VP6 motherboard with 1 PIII 1ghz processor in it. This board supports two so I wanna get a second processor but I'm a little unsure. The board does not support FC-PGA2 processors only the Coppermine FC-PGAs. My current processor reads 1000/256/133/1.7V which is all self explanitory then it has Q113A336-0011 which is the serial number? Then SL4MF which I think is the steping... Not sure though. I have found several processors with SL4BR and SL4C8 but I can't find one that's SL4MF. Do I need a SL4MF? And if not will the others work?
Thanks for your help.
you need to get a processor thats the same stepping, yours is a cC0 stepping processor i beleive. look on ebay and you can find plenty 1000eb cpus that will work.
make sure they are cC0 p3 1000eb though
Make sure that the stepping and the voltage are the same.
Right now all 1000E P3 chips are cD0 so stepping and voltage you don't have to worry about.
What you have to worry about is whether its an E or EB. Because right now I see no online stores selling an E chip ony EB's.
It must be two E chips.
Yodums
BigRed says my chip is a 1000EB and a cC0. But Yodums says it's 1000E and cD0. Who's right? And how can I tell which stepping mine is? I bought mine over the summer.
WCPUID reports that it's Stepping ID is 6.
According to Intel, the SL4MF is a 1000EB w/ cCO stepping.
Sorry I didn't read your post correctly and didn't see "/133/" so its an EB.
Just buy any EB chip and you'll get cC0 and it'll work.
Yes, your CPU is a 1000eb (133 FSB default) and is a cC0 stepping which is 1.7v default. The voltage is the easiest way to tell the stepping. The cC0 steppings have 1.7v and the cD0 steppings have 1.75v. It's best to use the same stepping in dual proc setups, if possible.

As batboy says, it is best to use the same stepping proc. But, I had d/l'ed the P3 Spec update pdf a week or 2 ago and on it, they are show that there are no issues with using a cD0 stepping with a cC0 stepping P3 1000EB. Also as batboy said, the cvore is different between the cC0 and cD0 procs, but that shouldn't be a problem because you are talking only .05 volts.
Thanks for all your help. I got a SL4MF processor (cC0 stepping 1.7V core) and a SL4DV processor (cD0 stepping 1.75core) should I run my Vcore @ 1.75 or 1.7? Running @ 1.75 right now. Also I guess you gotta reinstall Windows 2000 or something to get it to pick up dual processors cause my BIOS detects duals but when I get into Windows it doesn't.
I figured out you hafta change the driver for your Computer in the System Properties to APCI Multiproc to get dual processors
