Hello

its been a while since ive been in the networking scene and was wondering if what id like to do is possible with off the shelf linksys gear

at a facility im at they now have 2 modems, 2 routers and 2 switches.

one set is for guests and the other for the faculty.

i know with cisco gear its possible to just use one router and switch and set up 2 vlans and 2 wifi signals from one router/switch combo (and of course the access points)

with linksys routers i know they have vlan capabilities, but is it possible to set up two vlans (one for guest other for faculty) AND two wifi signals (guest and faculty again) all from one router?

if so is it difficult to setup or is it all possible through the gui? how would ip's be handled out in this case, can the linksys router set up seperate subnets to keep the users from each group isolated?

thank you for your input

Many of your Wireless Routers now adays have Guest access to wireless either on the same or a different SSID which disallow access by the guest to anything else on the network except for Internet. Basically simple VLAN capability. This may serve your purpose. At home and at the office, I do this with Apple AirPort Extreme. Works very well for a home / small office environment.
