Hi,

I was wondering what would be better for overall speed and performance.
Currently I have one of these drives in my PC :

Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

However, I'm kind of looking for better boot speeds and load times so I was wondering if it would be better to run two of the caviar blacks in raid 0 (the cheaper solution @ 99 dollars) or invest in 1 Western Digital VelociRaptor WD1500HLFS 150GB 10000 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive for apps and use the caviar for general storage ?

Which one of these setups will give me better performance and will the two caviar blacks be somewhat on the same level as 1 velociraptor?

My current rig :
Core i7 860
8 gb of CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
EVGA P55 FTW Mobo
HD Radeon 5770
600w OCZ modxtreme psu
and the 1tb caviar hdd

Thanks in advance for the help~!
Just really curious what would be the better value for the money .

I'm doing something similar. I've got a 40GB X-25V SSD for boot, a 150GB Raptor for my applications, and a 1TB WD Black for storage. Wish I could give you some useful input but I've yet to get the CPU in and boot it. What you're trying to do would improve boot speeds in theory, but only actually doing it would tell you for sure. Hopefully someone here can offer more insight. :-|

Actually, I was thinking it might be better for me to just invest in an OCZ Agility SSD drive. Save up some money for it and I believe it's only about 30 dollars more than the velociraptor but half the size, 60gb, but faster than raptors in raid 0?
