i got some rounded cables, and they have 1 pin blocked out. the connectors on my board have all 40 pins (ata 33). if i bend/remove the pin that is preventing the cable from plugging in, will it work? i looked at the connectors on the drives, and they are missing the pin.

Can you maybe poke a hole in the connector on the cable to let the pin in?
If you have a drill, use one of your smallest bits and drill a hole to accomodate the extra pin.

yah, what they said :) as a sidenote, i would recommend against bending that pin out of the way... 1) it probably won't let it seat entirely, 2) you risk snapping it off, 3) who knows... you always have a tendancy to need things that you remove w/o need (it always works that way, who knows why) :D
