Depends on the GPU.
You have a dual GPU card, so running that in an 8x slot is like running two gtx275s in 4x slots, you will lose some performance.

How much exactly is hard to say, the current top card (5870) has about the same power as yours and only looses 1-2% in a 8x slot, but i don't know how well that will translate to a different architecture.

yes. yes you dodepends....With a GTX295, I would imagine the performance loss would be about the same as the 5870 which is a mere 1-2%. So not much at all. Anything below the 5870 or dual GPU cards and you likely wont lose a thing.

Everything these guys said above, plus a little more elaboration in this (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=637043) thread.

@ jason4027 hi there jason :attn:

hmm x16 is the best to use. If you can't run both at x16 (which is weak), then x8/x8 is fine. he WILL notice some lag.

I wonder if upping the PCIe freq to 105-110 would get rid off that small 1-2% disparity? Seems logical that it would.

I have wondered that myself...its too bad I have nothing that will saturate 8x though.
