View Full Version : C: mislabeled and can't rename

My OS had a brain fart due to some bad sectors on one of my drives so I broke the raid to scan both drives to verify and correct the bad sectors. Then I put it back in Raid 1 and installed XP. Now for some reason my backup drives also in Raid 1 are showing up as C: and it wont let me relabel them or rename my OS drive letter either. Any way to get around this?
Also, during startup I've got 2 instances both saying "Windows XP". How do I remove the second instance?

You can just edit the boot.ini file.

Thanks.
How do I know which one isn't in use? So far I've been clicking on the first one to boot up.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(5)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
They keep referring to the "boot entry id" Where is that?

Just change one or both of their names then boot them. Seems it's likely the second one you do not want.
Who's the "They"?
