I have just installed a new mobo processor and ram. I also installed windows 98 first edition. For some reason if I try to resart windows from the start menu the screen goes blank and I can't turn off the computer without unplugging it. I can ctrl alt del resart fine, and shutdown from the start menu works. Any suggestions. Thank you.

A follow up make sure APM is checked in the Power Management settings.

Go to the windows update site. They have an update just for that problem as well as many others. You can get a whole update pack for that edition of windows. I hope that you have cable or dsl though, as the updates for that one are a lot of MB's of DL.
