Does overclocking have an effect on CD-Writers?
I recently tried to overclock my system to try how high my FSB's can go. To my surprise I can only make it to 150 FSB, whereas before I had my CD-Writer I could go to 160 FSb easily. Please see my sig below for a better idea of my system. Any inputs would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Never heard such thing!
The only thing I can think of is if your CD devices run off the PCI Bus which I believe they do it maybe a little too high or something and your battling with the PCI bus.

You may want to be careful with certain types of CD-rw drives and pushing the FSB to high, a friend of mine (who is also a member of this great site :D ) had his FSB at 140 or 150...not sure which one...had 2 brand new drives..bothe ACER..one was a 56x cd...the other a 20x-10x-40x burner....
Anyway..about 1 week ago, his burner craped out, just wouldn't read any cd put into it, so we thought it was a defect...and got it replaced, but alas, the 56x cd decided to die the exact same way just a few days ago, now he has to try and replace that one...again..both drives were BRAND NEW and for both of them to go the same way is to much of a coincidence.
Now he has decided to keep his fsb at the default 133Mhz, but this problem might just be related to the ACER brand of drives..although I have seen it happen with others, so be careful, pushing the fsb to far may not fry your cpu..but it can push the other bus speeds out of whack which can destroy the periphials connected to them.
PS....HEY AUTONOMOUS...GET THAT NEW CD DRIVE YET?...LMAO DORK!
