So for a while I was wondering why my GTX 260 192C had been sucking. So I bought a 9800 GX2 and that didn't make much of an improvement. Finally I realized it was time to up the CPU. So I ditched the 4000+ for a cheap AMD 250 X2. Well the results was almost 3,200 additional 3D marks. Go figure. :blah:

Ah well the new rig should be on the way shortly anyways. :) Moral of the story don't screw your GPU over with a weak CPU.

Which 3dmark though? '06 on default settings is basically just a CPU test these days.

I wouldn't go that far, but it is very CPU related.

OCing my GPU got me from 11k to 13k, OCing my CPU got me to 14.1k.

But yes, bottlenecks are real.

Only thing I can say in defense is the 4000+ was only like 2.1ghz or something like that with a small cache. With out a doubt a night and day difference in BC2 at 1920x1080!!!

bottlenecks have existed for some time between the two. it is either the GPU's fault or the cpu's fault and it all comes down to the configuration.
