Using CCC ati overdrive, I tested my new xfx 5770 with 3dmark06 on a xp32 machine with a single monitor.

These are the results in the order that I did them, using an e4400 @ 2.8ghz, default memory 1200mhz.
gpu: 850mhz
3dmark06: 12405
gpu: 875mhz
3dmark06: 12315
gpu: 900mhz
3dmark06: 11969
gpu: 925mhz
3dmark06: 11863
gpu: 960mhz
3dmark06: 11785

3dmark06: 11589
closed chrome
gpu: 850mhz
12204

12300

My scores went down as I increased the gpu. At first I thought it was ati's new error correction tool that fixes artifacts but decreases performance.
But when I tested it again at 850mhz the score was almost 1k below what it should be.
When I closed google chrome it had 5 futuremark pages open. Could that really make a difference of 700? Also the score should have went back to the default of 12400, not 12200.
Then I just started restarting my comp in between tests. Got no performance gains at all.
Did I get a dud? Does this score fit with my cpu? Is there some handy new tool that ati has invented that's messing with my results?
