I recently purchased a XFX 5870 XXX video card and within minutes of installing it and cranking up furmark to get quick test it starting freaking out and monitor went blank. I tried both the 10.1,10.2,10.3 catalyst drivers and although i eventually got furmark to run 50 min (most i tested it) without crashing I had intermittent crashes in Bad Company 2 after a few hours of gaming, once the sound went funky and another time I got a blue screen. Considering that I had just played thru the single player with my EVGA gtx 275 without any issue and have been playing online in MW2 and COD4 I felt it was time to ask for an RMA. Being the thrifty type i went to USPS to send it back priority mail (UPS ground from Georgia takes forever to California) and noticed while ripping off the UPS label that at the Top it Said

RMA WAREHOUSE

below that was the address in California, but question is why would i be getting a new card from the RMA warehouse and not from a normal warehouse, gives me the impression they are just passing around bad cards in hopes some unlucky soul will not test the card thoroughly and wait until the 30 day return time has passed. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

As it has been discussed and answered before.

Ok so everything has been taken care of. They just called me and they were really really helpful. The rep actually knew about the process and explained that a lot of new items are actually kept at the RMA warehouse because often people refuse to take items and they are sent there. He was really nice and apologetic. I get some money off my next purchase because of all the DOA and they explained they have no control over that because they cant test the items after they get them from the manufacturer. I will definetly be buying from newegg again.

And

Dear swensoch,

I must thank you for submitting your update. As you were explained on the phone, the way that this situation was handled was completely unacceptable. We should have explained how packages are often refused by the customer, which in turn, gets them sent to our returns warehouse for processing. I can certainly understand how this can appear that we sent you a customer's return and this issue is being looked into to stop it from happening in the future. If you need anything further, please don't hesitate to contact Alex or myself:

Sorry maybe it would help if i actually read thru the forums, thanks for the links.

However I will make one statement, I noticed when shopping for the 5870's that many of them were out of stock and of those that were left only a very few of the most expensive ones had a standard vga return policy, mine had only a replacement policy. After combing thru the review it seems that either the 5870 binning is very poor or certain manufacturers have serious quality issues....I am concerned because I feel the likelihood of getting a trouble card back is pretty high, and guess what as of now the item is showing out of stock.

How does newegg process RMA's on out of stock, can I ask for and possibly get a Refund or internal credit (gift card whatever as long as it works to purchase another card) since my item is defective and they appear to not have any more. If I had went to my local Fry's i could have bought and returned as many cards as I felt like till I the customer was pleased, but this whole replacement only has me baffled, is it replacement for a similar item???? as in another video card. I already have a Evga Gtx 275 ftw and the only logical move (increase in performance) would be another 5870 that works or a GTX 480/470 without going to sli or crossfire.

On the second part i do not know. i do know that newegg has a forum account here and from what i've seen they do a really good job at helping forum members. i don't know what the common practice is. the best i can do again is to refer you to

Official Overclockers Forum Newegg Support (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=616301)
Although i doubt they have weekend availability. Then again it still surprises me that they actively pay attention to different forums.

If the item is completely unavailable they'll offer you a refund, at least that was my experience a while ago. They do the 'replacement only' RMA to avoid people 'renting' the card even if that means the person would pay a restock fee Newegg then has to sell that as open box so it's not worth it to them. They often have 'replacement only' RMA on items that are hard to keep in stock, other places do this too.

By chance is a Gift card a valid form of refund, as in can I get store credit that can be used instantly instead of going thru the whole wait for my bank to clear it type of refund. I paid with a debit card that is why im asking and can't just reorder until I have my funds back.

It never hurts to ask. Most places prefer to refund to the original payment method though, maybe that's just because that's how all the systems are set up and it makes internal fraud a lot harder.

Well my main issue is the cards currently in stock don't pass both my requirements for a card which costs $400+....

1) Lifetime Warranty...i am not willing to part with that much cash for something that if it goes out in 2 years 1 month I have paid $200 a year to use. Plus with my motherboard i have 4 pcie slots so crossfire is def an option

2) want reference design...not fan of having alot of air dumped into case...I noticed the ref. design really resembles the gtx 200 series card with air being dumped out back of case and 2 small open slots at very end of card, my gtx 275 has those too so cooling should be similar as to where the air goes.

Ignore the "from" address, look up the tracking # and see where it started from. The "from" address is not always where the package originated but rather an address the package can be sent if the receiver refuses the package or if the address was invalid.

thats what the newegg rep told me too

guess it makes it easier for them to reprocess
if it is refused or the box is damaged, wrong address shipped to or whatnot

was ure card an oem or retail?

Sigh, wish I hadn't found these threads. I recently ordered a video card from Newegg as well. Received the order, the card was shrinkwrapped, though it felt loose for some reason, but I decided it was nothing and opened it up. The sticker keeping the electrostatic bag wasn't placed properly (wasn't actually holding it closed), which didn't worry me until this next part.

Card was DoA for me; started artifacting as soon as windows loaded up.

The return address on the package is also RMA Warehouse, so now I don't know what to think. Just sent them an email a while ago, guess I might have to wait until Monday for a response though.
