View Full Version : When booting up, it wants me to run Scandisk Surface scan
Ok, I know that I must have done something wrong for this to happen, but I have already run Fix-it-Utility's full scandisk with surface scan and it reported that everythign is just fine. I had to do this one other time and it took 6 hours to do through the windows scandisk. Is there anyway around it? Or to tell windows that it doesnt need to be done? I do know the difference between regular scandisk and full scandisk with surface scan. Thanks for any suggestions.

is this in pre windows boot up
if so i think you just hit x or hit the arrow keys till exit is highlighted then hit enter
even esc might work
if not just let it do it while your asleep or at work or school
Yes, its as it goes to load windows, it prompts me straight into scandisk. I know that I could just let it run when I go to bed, but its just the point of having to do it that bugs me lol. I want to be able to tell it that it doesnt need to be done. It will let me skip it, but next time I boot up it prompts me back into scandisk again saying that it needs to check the disc surface area.
My system actually does that to every so often when the system is shut down and then turned back on. It will go right into scandisk. Not all the time though. I suspect it has something to do with the overclock.
if that is w98 you can open the "system information" in your system tools and open the "system configuration utility" (or something like this), then you click the button "advanced". it will open up a window where youll find the option to disable the scandisk at boot.
