Damn, i finally come to the realization that my ram is holding me back from reaching 170+ of fsb. ok, my chip can do 163fsb at 1.45v max temp is 28~9 with cpuburn. so i jump to 170fsb with 1.6v, not stable, despite max temp of 33c. so i up i/o a bit to 3.4v it is now running like a champ. make anohter leap to 173, even 1.775v won't do the trick, it simply too shacky.....it must be the ram. i am really in need of a good ram, for i know i can do at least 180fsb easy. i have tried 183 with 1.65v and it boot, load into windows, then hang, with 1.775v, the same. where can i find a ram that will do 200fsb? ;) i need it to reach my dream.1.91ghz, and i know i can achieve it with air cool only, and most important of all, and good stick.
simply put, my rig can do 170~180 with max vcore 1.6, and temp will run like 35 at idot, 38~39load, if not the ram, i am running at 1710 now.

If you find this "magic" RAM, let me know. :)
I've only used a few different brands of RAM. The highest I get is 160 before having to drop the memory bus speed. And the "PC150" I tried is worse than the PC133.
What about those PC-160 CAS2 ?
If you work them at CAS3?.... then probably can reach 170-180 ?
Well i dont really know...just an idea.
My Corsair PC-150 CAS2 worked up to 166fsb when set as CAS3
with no problem at all.
they say that the OCZ can reach 200, but some people also say its crap...I don't know which to believe...

ok, so far, the highest sitting of mem is held by one of fellow forum member @ 169 , cas2 , turbo 1, 3.5v. and u bet ja, they are kingmax pc150 sticks, 512mb and 256mb running together. man, that'z sweet...think i should swap mine with his, so i can do 200fsb for sure.:D

OCZ is a crapshoot. They use a lot of different memory. I have (2) 256 OCZ PC150 2-2-2 ram in my system. The first set I got had Micron 7ns chips, same as Crucial PC133 cas2. It performed the same as Crucial (big surprise). It would do 145 2-2-2. 146 and up needed 2-3-2. They replaced it with some Hyundai 6 ns chip memory. This will do 153 2-2-2. 154 and up needs 2-3-2. The reviews I read on the Kingmax tBGA always showed it to perform lower than others. According to the reviews, it is rated 150 3-3-2. Go figure.

I'm still testing my ram out on the PIII-S setup. It looks like the limits are:
2-2-2 5/7: 152 MHz
2-3-2 7/9: 158 MHz
3-3-3 7/9: 159 and up
Basically, if I want 160+ FSB, I have to use the slowest mem timings.
My CPU needs more Vcore than some. I'm now running 1.5 GHz, 158 FSB, 2-3-2, 1.500 Vcore. Perfectly stable and pretty darn fast.
To go to 160 FSB, I need 3-3-3, 1.550 Vcore. I think 1.5 GHz sounds like a good speed for my system.

I have one stick of 256MB PC150 CL2 RAM here that booted into windows @200 MHz FSB and CL3!!
I think it could do 200 MHz stable at CAS3!! At the moment I'm only sure that it does 166 MHZ CL2 2-2-2 5/7 very stable. I have no chip at the moment to test it's full potential.
Hope you'll find some good RAM soon. What about Tonicom PC166 CL2 RAM or some other 6ns RAM??
I'm quite sure that there's some RAM available in the US that'll do 200 MHz FSB at CL3!

Celemine1Gig, the problem is i CANNOT find a single tonicom p166 anywere!! that is just plain crap:mad: anyway, i will do some more testing using memtest86 to exam the stability of my ram. hope i am very luck:) anyway, i just get rid of the sticky sticky heatsink of my XET-C, and during the processor, i think i have knocked off some little piece of donno what, but i am a bit afraid that i may accidentally damage the board in any way. hey what'z the brand of your pc150 ram? how much does it cost..to ship it from german to us?

Hi tainice,
the RAM is made by MCI (www.mci.de) and has 6.6ns MDT chips on it! I have to admit that not all of these run at 166 MHz CL2. I already owned one that didn't do 166 CL2, but they definetly run 150 MHZ at CL2 like advertised, but I think it's the same here as with the CPUs. There are better one's and some are worse.
I'm sorry that I have to tell you that the company does not ship to the US!! I alredy mailed them a few weeks ago, because "Outhouse"(member of this Forum) wanted some of that RAM!
But you could try to find a German or other european reseller that would send it to the US.
Just try www.google.de and select "Seiten aus Deutschland" and type in the keyword "MCI MDT PC150 CL2".
I hope you'll be successful, or maybe you'll find some other RAM brand that'll match your expectations! I once tried to find Tonicom RAM here in Germany, but I had no luck, and then I found this "magic" RAM!
Good luck
Ingo

Sorry tainice, can't have them. They absolutely won't do 170 but I'm going to seperate them, I suspect the 256mb stick to go higher, keep you posted. That is 2-2-2-5 anyway. I think it has more to do with the mobo, I couldn't get lucky twice, I bought these sticks 2 months apart from the same vendor.

maybe your geforce is limiting you? do you even have 1/2 agp and 1/5 pci? 1/4 pci at 166fsb is the limit for most harddrives and modems

I think it is 127 fsb / 42.3 pci / 169.2 mem / 84.6 agp.
