Once in a while, when I turn on my HTPC, the video will not come up at all. I can still hear Windows load up though, so it appears to be the video card possibly. If I reseat the HDMI cable and try a different HDMI port on the back of my TV, it will come up. This does not happen all the time though. It seems only on initial bootup once in a while. Here is the motherboard and video card I'm using on Windows 7 x64.
Asus P7P55-M Micro ATX Motherboard
ATI 4870 1gb PCI-e w/HDMI
Has anyone else run into this problem before?

Does that card have an HDMI port or are you using a DVI to HDMI adapter?
If the latter, maybe try the other DVI port? Otherwise not sure. Possibly try another HDMI cable? Maybe the card and TV just can't sync properly because of the cable?
Otherwise I have no useful input :)

The video card has an HDMI port on it. I've got another HDMI cable that I use with my PS3 without any issues. I'll swap them around and see if the issue still occurs.

hmmmm not sure. got some questions though
- Do you have your TV tuned to the appropriate input and then turn on the HTPC? Or do you turn on the PC and then switch to the HTPC input after some time?
- Is this happening on cold-boots, or do you boot from Hibernate? Sleep mode?
- If it is happening on cold-boots, are you able to see the POST screen before Windows starts loading? Or is it black the entire time?
Tryin to get a feel for an area of cause. Usually these things are fairly consistent. My HTPC for example doesn't like it if it is turned on from a cold-boot and the TV isn't turned to the correct input when Windows starts loading.

This appears to happen on a cold-boot. I do not know if I turn the TV to the selected input first or after I turn on the HTPC when this happens. When it is working fine, I can usually see the POST screen. When it doesn't work, I do not see anything, but I hear windows start music.
I will have turning the HTPC on with the selected input on the TV first and try it without to see if that may be the issue. Thanks for the heads-up.
