I am rebuilding a machine for a relative and it uses the aspire q-pack case which has an aspire 420w miniATX psu in it... yeah not so hot...

The aspire psu has been working for about 4-5 years but with new components I just dont trust it to continue. I usually buy Antec or Corsair psu's but I dont see anything on newegg from them in that form factor. The only one I see that would work alright is a 300w unit made by FSP group... never heard of them myself. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104075

The computer will consist of an AMD X2 250 (all stock speeds), 2gb ddr3, onboard vid, nothing special so 300w should be plenty.

Anyone know of a decent psu to use for this application? Any help would be great!

FSP group are good, aslong as you arent looking for mager performance power

The X-Qpack does NOT use a "MiniATX" power supply. That FSP you linked is pretty decent (and a version is found in the Silverstone Mini ITX case) but it is actually "SFX" sized.

The X-Qpack uses a "short" ATX power supply. You can actually just use any normal ATX power supply as long as you have a really short optical drive (any of the new ones are short enough) and the power supply is really short, no longer than 5.5" deep. Something like this unit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151086) would work.

Now, if you have the X-Qpack2 then you have a bit more leeway and can probably use PSUs up to 6.5".

yea but the psu he linked to comes with a ATX bracket to mount to the psu. i have that same psu powering a AMD rig i built for a friend, good little psu. used the Matx to ATX bracket for a CM MATX case that takes ATX psu's.
