i get get my xp1700 to fsb150, but only if i lower my memory timings to their slowest speeds. how much of a performance hit will i take if i do this?

How high can you get your FSB with the memory at their fastest setting?

Edit: I almost forgot. Welcome to the forums:D

Currently, I am at 147fsb fully stable. all my memory timings are at their max performance rates. i have tried lowering my memory settings to normal and raise my fsb to 150 and 149, but it is still not stable. i have also tried raising the vcore to the fullest .1, but that did not help my comp stabilize at over 149. so is it worth it to set all my memory timings to minimum to just to get 3 more mhz out of my cpu. the main reason i am doing it is to get the xp2000+ on my comp :)

I would say to stay at 147. It might be your memory that is holding you back what are you system specs.? MB, Kind of ram and other components. Is there an option to bump up your memory voltage? After you post your specs someone with more knowledge than me will surely respond.

What kind of HSF are you using? What are your load temps? Heat is another thing that can hold you back!

I might be mistaken, but I thought I read somewhere that the Dragon plus does not allow mem vcore adjustments. Which is a drag.

hey man, welcome to the forums!:D
download memtest86(google search). it will make a bootable floppy and run a battery of tests on ur ram. first run the tests at 147 w/max timings. if u get no errors, go to 150. if ur memstill doesnt get errors, its the cpu. if your mems getting errors, back off the timings on it, and test again. if its the ram, better ram is a good investment, since it will let u o/c that XP farther(unless u want to unlock it, wich i did!
u should also put ur system specs in your sig, just a suggestion
