Last week I realized that one of my 2 EVGA 8800's was dying. I purchased these almost 2 years ago new from tiger direct and they had worked flawlessly through 3 or so mobos and cpus and could handle anything i threw at them. Initially i bought them with the intention of using EVGA's awesome step up program so i registered one of the cards online. I dont know why i online registered one but I did. I ended up loving the cards and decided i did not need to upgrade them and kept them.
When i went to RMA my card i saw that i needed to have registered my card within the first 30 days to get the full lifetime warranty, and of course the card that went bad was not the card i had registered:mad:. I assumed that i was SOL and there was nothing i could do but i decided it was worth a little of my time to give it a shot. I called up EVGA, and almost immediately was able talk to a person, no bs phone trees, just a simple 3 choice question and i got a person who could speak English fluently. He was amazingly friendly and helpful, and didn't treat me like a child when it came to troubleshooting the issue. After deciding it was defective and looking over my information he saw the out of warranty issue. I thought i was done for, but he said that maybe someone in a different department could help me out with the issue. At this point I thought he was just passing the buck and i got worried. I waited on hold for 10 seconds and was then greeted by another outstandingly helpful employee who believe it or not DID NOT ask me to repeat every single thing i had just told the last guy. He looked over the invoice i uploaded (with the help and recommendation of the first guy) and then said he could help me get a warranty replacement! :bday: i could not believe it, they were going to warranty a product that was almost 2 years old, that i had not properly registered.
They had no incentive to do this, i did not register my product per their policy and as far as i am concerned they were holding up their end of the bargain by not offering the full warranty unless i did, and clearly i am not "big fish" to them, i bought mid level cards 2 years ago and clearly don't upgrade often.
I shipped them my card on Wednesday, it got to them on Monday morning, and i had a tracking number by Monday night. Unbelievable! The service was far and above what i had expected, and i promise you will never see me buying any other vendors cards from here on out.
My recommendations to you all is to buy EVGA if your looking at nVidia cards and ALWAYS register your equipment on time, because I would never expect them to do this all the time, and if you do you will never have to be in my shoes worrying about it!
