What do you guys think of this card? Anyone going get it or have already pre-order it? I'll be hopefully getting this card once it comes and is reviewed by someone. I was hoping they would send it to people like engadget to get reviewed before it comes out.

Discussion?

There should be a review very soon. See the first post on this page (http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/78488.aspx?PageIndex=192).

The Ceton (and the announced SDHRCC) are certainly worth keeping tabs on.

I hope the review comes soon. I'm hoping for this card to be well worth the price. What is SDHRCC?

Does anyone happen to know more details about the bridging ability of this card?

SDHRCC = SiliconDust HD HomeRun CableCard. Their announced version was a 2-tuner model over a network connection like the HDHomerun for QAM. However don't assume you can pair different tuners with different computers. That's still a no-no per CableLabs. Also it's not even in certification as far as anyone knows.

I know that thread I pointed to before is enormous but the detailed answer about bridging is in there. The short course is that you can bridge the tuners amoung Win7 MCEs, but *all 4* must be bridged at once. So no sharing tuners at the same time among PCs and it's not expected that switching all pairings at once will be simple or transparent either. It will require a MCE rescan for tuners and guide updating. Again that's CableLabs in action and not a restiction of the tuner per se. Should the FCC mandate different requirements, Ceton has said sharing tuners from a common host should be entirely possible. Write your congressman I guess.

Yes thank you. very informative thread as i glanced through various pages. But i saw a question asked about how (obviously) there is going to be the video files of recording that could be accessed by other computers as long as its tagged copy freely( or something like that). How do the videos get tagged as "copy freely" or do all recordings by default get marked this.

Engadget's review is up for the card.

What it really comes down to is that we love the InfiniTV 4. It works as advertised and really makes Windows 7 Media Center the best DVR there is (for cable subscribers). Whether you already have an ATI CableCARD tuner, or you're thinking of switching over from an TiVo HD, we think this is a great upgrade. We think that this will be the device that makes Media Center become the DVR of choice for those who demand the best.

this pretty much sums it up

Heck, YES, I want to preorder one! :bday:

But I have some real concerns about which of the three vendors Ceton is currently using will be best ... and I'm a very cautious guy after many exciting (in a bad way) online purchasing disasters.
Please help me out here if you have any experience with these guys.

I also like to check www.resellerratings.com whenever possible.

The first vendor, Zones.com, has such a mixed reseller reviews I'm kinda put off.
The reviews are ether a full "five checks" or only one check - as low as you can get AND a lifetime ratting of only 2.8 (six month of 5.0 of 10).
They mostly seem honest but very, very flakey.

The next two vendors, Cannon PC (cannonpc.com) and Fluid Digital (fluiddigitalmedia.com) both are completely unknown.

That is NOT a good sign.

So please, if you have had or hear of any good or bad experience with ANY of these guys, respond here.

I thank you all greatly.
