I recently got a server using Avocent DSR 2035 for KVM. The KVM function works (although it took me a while to figure that out; it uses Java "Web Start" which needs manual setup in Gentoo). The Virtual Media doesn't work. I've tried both Sun and IBM 1.6 JREs, running as both normal user and root. Every one produces an error when attempting to access virtual media:
The Virtual Media program will close.
Reason: The Virtual Media native library cannot be loaded.
Anybody seen this? Google gives me exactly zero results.
If you're a data center operator, please use Spyder KVM/IP instead of Avocent. Spyder has worked for me on several different computers, running XP, Vista, and 7, with no problems with either the KVM or Virtual Media functions. It also has working mouse sync. There's a CentOS DVD in the drive that the hosting company provided, and I've spent 30 minutes trying to install it because this Avocent thing has absolutely HORRID mouse synchronization.
