View Full Version : Waterblock for Celeron-T?

I've been thinking a lot about going with Water Cooling. I just upgraded to a Celeron 1.2 with an Abit ST6. I've got a Glaciator II on there now and it's performing pretty well, but I'm going to want to start overclocking, and I'd like to get rid of as much fan noise as possible. Any recommendations on a waterblock, radiator, pump, kit, case, etc???
I've looked at Dangerden, Eheim, OCWatercool, etc but I'd like to know some real world experiences...
Peace

I would go with dangerden stuff. The MAZE1C is a great waterblock for your system. Dangerden is probably going to stock the Black ice radiators or something like it pretty soon so I would reccomend getting one of those. The eheim pumps that dangerden has are excelent but if you want to save some money you can get a Maxi-Jet 1200 295 GPH mag drive pump for $18.95 at this place (http://www.marinedepot.com/a_ph__index.asp?CartId=).

Bender just summed it up. Danger Den waterblocks and Swiftechs are good, Eheim pumps if you've got the money (lot of water and silent), and Blackice radiators (get the Extreme model if you can pull the dough, otherwise get a heater core).

That Celeron 1.2GHz is a Tualatin chip, right? If you have enough case airflow you can run those passively cooled. Probably still room for overclocking. If you go water on that chip, with the proper setup you will get temps darn near ambient.

Yeah, Tualatin chip... I'm not absolutely sure of temps right now because I still need to install the BIOS update... My ST6 is currently switching between detecting the chip as a PIII-301 (86x3.5) and a PIII-800 (228x3.5) hehe... I've got a Glaciator II on there now, which I think should keep it fairly cool, and I'm sure I'll probably have some O/C headroom with aircooling, but I think I'll prolly be able to get a better overclock plus lower temps and less fan noise with water... :D I just want all the benefits don't I? I have heard some things about those MaxiJet pumps needing to be submersed rather than running in-line because they can leak. Any truth to this? Also, what's the noise difference between an Eheim and the MaxiJet? I'm trying to get as quiet as possible. I'll be replacing the fans in my Enermax PSU with Panaflo L1As and running all my case fans at 9V. I'd like to have the HDDs be the loudest thing in the computer, though they'll be on rubber grommets.. Over the course of only a few months, I've become EXTREMELY sensitive to noise... I sold my AMD system with MC462 in favor of an Intel System with a Glaciator, but this is still too loud for me hehe... :D
The quest continues.

If you want maximum quietness, Panaflo L1As are good. For your power supply, just use the rear 80mm fan. The 90 isn't necessary. One less fan there. If you can, get a Papst 80mm fan for the power supply. They're even quieter. Running an 80mm L!A is silent. That's what I'm running in my PSU.

Eheims are silent. All you can tell from them working is a slight vibration, but no working noise unless your ear is physically on the pump. I've heard about Maxijets leaking sometimes, but Eheims do not need to be submerged. You'd need a HUGE reservoir for it then. I just made a PVC res for mine and attached it to the pump.

Grommet mounts for the hard drives is a good move also, unless you want to pull the money for a Seagate ATA IV, which are inaudible and fast.

At the end of this you should have a nice quiet machine.

Hmmm... Don't think the Hard Drive upgrade is in the near future, hopefully the grommets will work until then... As for a waterblock, I guess Overclock Watercool is out of the question... damn, that's crazy... I always got a weird feeling when browsing there, now I guess I know why... Oh well, you live and you learn, I'm just glad I didn't get burned... I feel sorry for all the people who did...

I didn't get burned by OCWC when I ordered my Blackice and in-line thermistor from them. Took them a while to get it to me because of a flood, but they did get it to me in a timely fashion once everything was in order again.
