I know this pc is not up to much.

P2 400
tnt2 ultra
327 ram
win2k

When playing full screen videos shes coughing and splutering very badly.
I find this perculiar as a m8's pc has a celly 450 with a gf2 mx and his works great.

Any tips apart from getting a new vid card or cpu?

well for one, your computer IS pretty slow, and the jump from 400 to 450 is alot (i have both speeds) the tnt2 ultra is quite the crappy video card too, a gf2 mx is better.

you could try getting new drivers for your video card

get the new codecs for whatever kind of video you are watching too, just a thought

The gf2 MX is much faster than the TNT Ultra, and the Celleron is faster that the P2.... I think it's very normal that you can't keep up with the celly.

If I remember correctly, although the TNT2 is a great card (one of the best oldie's IMO) I seem to remember the 2D quality on that card was quite poor.

If you stuck a MX or Radeon in there I bet you would find similar performance as your m8.

Edit - just a thought... but why not borrow your m8's MX card and see what the performance is like? Then you would know.

Here's very interesting!

I have just put winxp on to this pc in question and lo and behold the video's are working fantastic. The dvd's are working in 32bit full screen with not a hint of chug or spluter. Crisp and crystal clear....

This must tell someone something.

Not to bad XP after all..............for this anyhow.

That's great,

You got to love fixes like that. It must have been a software/driver issue. At least that is what that would leave me to believe. Wouldn't necessarily have to be with your video card either.
