Ok so i have a toshiba satellite a135-s4656 laptop. The computer has crashed and i need a way to run a system recovery or reformat. I downloaded a windows xp cd and tried to boot from the cd, but it fails on Hardware abstraction layer. I get an error code that says halaacpi.dll "The error code is 7". It was originally a windows vista home basic laptop, but i do not have the cd. Could someone please direct me as to what to do? I have purchased a key for XP Home and Vista Home Basic, but i have lost the cds. Any help would be appreciated.

did you already check to see if you have a manufacturers recovery partition?
you will probably have to purchase the cd's from toshiba, i'd give them a call and explain the situation, maybe if your lucky they will send you the cd's for free.
