Topic! Just wanted to see if anyone else out there was noticing the same thing I am. Ever since I updated to 197.13 WHQL, I cannot run HBAO in BC2. Everything else runs fine. Everything at high at 1920x1080, 8x AA, 8x AF, Vsync and down the line. Before 197.13 I was running HBAO as well, still keeping 60FPS , and now with HBAO enabled, I'm dropping into the 20s. I'm actually quite confused.

On the bright side, 197.13 fixed my screen flickering issues, but now my framerate bombs. Gah! :D

Anyways, anyone experiencing this? Any fixes or troubleshooting tips?

~Cheers

Hmm....the in game vsync does not work correct? I have read it does not work because I researched it when trying to get it to work myself. I have to use a 3rd party program to force vsync if I want it apparently. Also AF over 4x is not working properly from what I gathered as well. HBAO as well is known to not be optimized properly, everyone recommends disabling it...the game is still being finished by DICE/EA....its a complete console port and is horribly optimized for pc hardware right now. I don't even know if they plan on really optimizing it much more to be honest.

And this was all prior to the new driver....Are you saying you were getting way better frame rates before with those exact settings?

What method did you go about in installing the new drivers?

Yep. All of my settings have been the same. I, as per I always have, just loaded the new drivers right on top of the old ones. When I first started playing the game (back on 196.21?) I just forced everything in Nvidia Control Panel, and had my best performance by doing that. I've since read that that can cause issues, so I started running everything through the in-game settings.

Rolled back to 196.21 WHQL and with everything at full I'm running 60FPS again. 197.13 is broken for me I'm guessing.

You were able to max BFBC2 at 1920*1080 on a 260???

Dual 260's in SLI factory overclocked. Manually overclocked by me.

Confirmation.

Wiped twice and this is what I'm at:

196.21 WHQL: Average 60FPS. Low of 51 (Tons of 'splosions)
197.13 WHQL: Average 31FPS. Low of 14 (:()

Settings at:

All High
Vsync On (being forced in Nvidia Control panel, triple buffered, with max. pre-ren frames set to 1)
HBAO: On.
AA: 8xQSAA
AF: 8x

Bah Humbug Nvidia. Bah Humbug.

Weird, I get massive increases with the new driver. Must have to do with SLI? Even though they claimed SLI was supposed to get a big performance jump in the change log...

Must be. What do you think I should do? Contact Nvidia? Or just keep rollin' with legacy drivers?

If you're having driver issues then do the recommended troubleshooting steps of uninstalling, running DriverSweeper in Safe mode, and then installing the latest drivers.

Didn't he say that he reformatted? I am only familiar with the term "wipe" on my G1...but its a safe assumption.

If so, then that method of removal and driver sweeper is not going to do much.

And I wouldn't bother contacting Nvidia about it...just use whatever is working best for you.

(If it ain't broken, don't fix it)

Wipe them? Uninstall them?

Use the driver sweeper in safe mode after uninstalling normally. Then give em a try...although I don't see that improving your problem.

Again I would just stay with the drivers that offer your setup the best performance.

do you have evga's sli profiles installed? if not download it.

also turn off V-sync with the recent drivers and see what that does.
