Grainy graphics in dark scenes

Hey all.

I've recently noticed i'm getting grainy graphics at times ...

Machine is q9550/asus rampage (x48)/8gb ram/gtx 285..

In counterstrike and source games i dont get anything like this. In Just Cause 2 I seem to be getting it in dark scenes, but it looks fine when things are well lit. I've also noticed it in Flight sim x..

Anyone have any ideas?

Readers, you have my apologies.

After being tipped off from a friend i've found that Just Cause 2 has a stupid grain effect which looks absolutely shocking (i.e. i thought something was wrong?)

For anyone playing at home, /filmgrain=0 command line switch fixes it...

Doesn't explain why i think i've seen grainy ground textures in FSX!
