my apologies in advance if this is mis-posted; i figured a specialized program of this type (one solely intended to optimize an OS) could be posted here. anyway..

is this program worth it? i didn't check the exact price yet, but i'm figuring it's within the range of most shareware products. i'm running xp pro. my bootup time is in the 1:15 range (which seems a tad long for my setup, plus the fact that xp is supposed to be thoroughly optimized to quicken bootup times), and the overall system seems a touch sluggish at times. i figure cutting out some unnecessary services, etc., and some tweaks could help things out. will this program do what i'm asking of it? personal experiences and opinions? tia guys :)

I had tweakxp installed for a while and I liked it but what I needed was a setting that wildone thought was in Tweakxp but was actually in customizerXP.

I'd say if your boot times are 1 minute + you might want to look into getting it and slimming your XP install down.

i think he means that he used tweakxp and it was good. But hes talking about not installing so much stuff with winXP next time you install the OS

No, I was talking about TweakXP.... WinXP Pro install really doesn't give you a whole lot of options during the install process. You can manually remove services and such but a tweak program works as well.

Basically, my comment is that TweakXP appeared to be a good program to me, it just didn't have the particular setting that I needed. (I was having random reboot problems which hosed my machine every few days)

CustomizerXP is pretty good as well.

If you right click on MY Computer and go to properties you will find alot of places to tweak. Get rid of all the FADE IN or FADE OUT options and it will feel 10x faster...www.tweakxp.com is pretty good.

I wouldn't use any other program but this website:

http://www.xp-erience.org

Their main tweak are registry only which I like the other program I used had problems and stuff.

I would recomend both tweakXP and CustomiserXP, both are very useful programs, myself I use both. Each have the basics, but they both have different ways to do things and different features. I'm not sure if it is in customizer or tweak, but one of them has a really good RAM optimizer, I love that little thing. I lets you see how much free RAM you have on your taskbar and lets you free up RAM when you need it. So I'd say try them both and see if it helps you at all.

I like tweakxp - I am still deciding whether to buy it or not. I don't know if I have the cash.

File > New and choose "Next boot trace" or "Next boot and drivers chase".

Which one did you choose?

i had to go with "next boot trace". if i tried using the +drivers option, i would BSOD every time on bootup (before any splash screens)
