I need a new video card that will support dual monitors. Seeing that the Radeon 8500 does support two monitors. I want to get one. I went on Pricewatch and notice some places sell them for $165 and other sell them for a lot more. What are the differences between the OEM, retail, and the one with funny color box?
Thanks for the input

The difference is the gpu/memory speed. Ati Retail is 275/275. OEM is 250/250.
diff is what they are clocked at...oem is around 250/250..retail is 275/275
The differ between the retail and the OMS is the speed. The Retail runs at 275/275MHz, where the OEM only runs at 250/250MHz. They both have the option for dual monitors.

THE OEM's come in these flavors:
249.5/249.5 4ns memory
249.5/249.5 3.6ns memory
249.5/249.5 3.6ns memory or 4ns with/without crippled GPU and Vmem resitors
230/230 4ns mem
230/230 3.6ns mem
230/230 3.6ns or 4ns with/without crippled GPU and Vmem resitors
There is word that there is even a 220/220 Oem version with 4ns mem

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they make a Radeon 8500 LE thats clock at like 230.

Donīt get an OEM. The GPU will overclock some on them, but the memory wonīt. I have the chips as the retail version, but it still wonīt go higher than 260. :(
It also seems that it is no real point to O/C the GPU if the memory modules wonīt, 3Dmark2001 have about the sampe points in 260 or 290 in my case.

Henry.

Henry,
I agree that buying an OEM is a cr@pshoot at best, but My OEM does 300/300 without using the Bios Flash nor Voltage mods.
I saved $130 by buying an OEM and its every bit as fast as a retail 8500 using Powerstrip.

?!? For sure? I have all the right makings- Powerstrip too- the memory works at higher speeds but grapchics get really corrupted.
