Quick question for you guys. My freind has a scsi harddrive that win 2000 does not reconize. It shows the drive in the device manager and the scsi adapter, but when you open my computer it does not show up. I went into the properties for the scsi card and used the format utility for the drive and it shows it in there. If i remember correctly i think the card needs to be formatted with the NTFS file system? but im not sure. the drive is an IBM and i cant remeber what the card is. sorry. I appreciate any suggestions that anyone might have to solving this problem.

thanx :)

if you formatted it using the scsi controller you did a LOW level format. That means that the disk is just like it was when if left the factory.

The disk will NOT show up in my computer untill you create a partition and format that partition.

Right click on my computer, select manage, and then select disk manager from the panel on the left.
In that display you will see all disks represented. Select the NEW scsi disk and right click on it. Select create partition. It will ask a few questions about making a primary or a extended partition.

After you have partitioned the drive you will need to format the partition. Right click on the partition that you jsut created, select format, answer the questions, for FAT, FAT32, NTFS and the like.

Wait for it to finish formating, and then it will show up in my computer...

Good luck:)
