best way to rip tv shows

I just set up an xbmc media center and have been ripping dvds using MakeMKV to my server. I also want to know how to rip tv shows so xbmc will recognize.

Should I rip an entire disc as a single file or should I rip single episodes as files?

Single files for TV shows will be much easier to show in XBMC. The only thing to pay attention to is the DVD order vs. Aired order according to theTVDB.com. They are not always the same, so your episode numbering can be thrown off at times.
