Anyone tell me how to remove the northbridge cooler on an Asus A7V? I'm not real big on jerking on things in my case not knowing what will break first, and I don't really like the idea of removing my motherboard to find out if there's something on the back that needs to be done and discover there's not.
TIA
I replaced the hsf on my A7V133. The pins that hold it on have expanding ends on them. You have to remove the mobo and use a pair of pliers to compress the ends on the back side of the mobo so you can push them through. Be very carefull when doing this, 1 slip and you could have a dead mobo! I used a stock Intel P3 HFS on the northbridge. I drilled and tapped holes in the base of the sink and used nylon bolts to hold it in place.

dang, was afraid of this. Thanks for the advice though. I will probably strap an old copper HSF from a 486 DX 4/100 that looks to be about the perfect size.
Take the ink out of a ball point pen with an all plastic body. With that you can just push the pins right out without the risk of slipping and tearing up the board.
