Two questions:

1) Where do you guys get the copper for your blocks?!?

2)Thinking of a new system...
Either waterchilled with a scavenged frig compressor...
Or a phase change...

Pros and Cons...

How hard is it to set up a phase change?!?

It's as easy as laying down $750.00 and buying a Vapochill.

Vapochill?!? $750!?!... Let me check my wallet... No ain't in there... I'd have a hard time parting with that much money for a case... Besides I'd rather do it myself...

Tiger, I found that last night after I posted... That's what me and the HVAC guy at work "thought up"...

I did a search for chilled water and got a lot of other hits... I'll be doing somemore reasearch... Looks promising, Are you still using that system?!?

Some days I think the Gods must like me:

While at work today we heard a sound like the roof came off the place. I went up front and saw a pick up pulling into the Chinese resturant next door... The guy jumped out, ran into the street, and started pulling in some scrap metal... He threw back in the bed of the pick-up, repositioned it, climbed in the bed, kicked it jumped on it... I was lauphing so hard I had to get the binoculars... Then I saw what he had...

He was carrying scrap commercial stainless steel freezers!!!
I ran outside and looked at what he had and got the easiest one to pull... For $2dollars!!!

Turns out it's a Tecumsah 1/5hp, low-temp (-10@evap), R-12, 650btu/hr, 110v compressor...

Now if it works...

Have you seen my website yet? With a nice little compressor like that you could easily do direct-die phase change cooling...

I'm still trying to decide which way to go...

PTCG, Tiger both nice setups...

Either direct phase change using water to cool the condensor...
Or just plain chilled water/methanol...

What effect does sub-zero temps have on water pumps?!?

So far the only advantage one way or the other is water would be more "portable"... I could probably set everything up in a container the size of my bong resv and the water hose could be longer and more flexible...
