Dear all maybe u can help with this dilemma.... while ripping songs from soundstream to my computer, the program greated a song title name of the file, and a file using 0bytes of memory. When I go to delete these files it says:
"Cannot delete (file): It is being used by another person or program. close any programs that might be using the file and try again."
I am not using the program and it isnt in memory.
Any ideas on how to delete them?
THANKS A MILLION

Try right clicking the files or folder and go to properties, click on the securities tab and make sure you have all permissions checked. If not, check them all then delete.

Yup I had that problem
Get a Dos boot disk (win98 works) and delete it in the command prompt.
*dont know if you know how to do that so here, dont get offended :) *
you'll be at a: so then:
c: (or whatever drive file is on)
cd whatever directory
del filename
:)
Oh ya if you don't have a boot disk www.bootdisk.com

I have the same problem, only with .avi files. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to go back to Win2k, Sp3 RC 5.31. I really liked the boot times and appearance of XP, but I JUST CANT HELP IT.
Too many problems have started to crop up.

it the issue with winXP and 2k.
I run in to this before.
2 way to solve this.
1. to start in DOS and remove it as Zuck Gou state.
2. go back to the ripp program u are using.
The program still regonize that file in the temp folder of it own.
Clear all the files in the programs
Example. If you using Window media player to play MP3.
you'll have a list of song that the program remember.
just remove it then try to delete the file again.
IT WILL WORK.
Good luck.

i used to have that problem, somehow it disappeared. anyway, when i had it, i'd open the file [if it's unrecognized, just use notepad or something] then immediately close it. after that, it would delete. beats me, good luck :eh?:

Whose Idea of using the Win98 startup disk to obtain a c prompt and go and delete it manually WORKED!! I didnt know I had a Dos structure behind XP i thought they got rid of it, so i had no idea i could go and manually move things around like that!! I LOVE IT....
TOO COOL
THANKs to all who posted reply's YOU WERE GREAT!!
