I never did the smp stuff yet till i reinstall windows..not happening yet
is there anything i can do to make that standard 2.63? client work harder.. its basically using my CPU at idle or 1/2 speed.. very annoying
do i need multiple instances installed/running to use more cycle time or is there an option like the -verbosity trick used
i just got gpu folding on yesterday using the -ati_r700 or w/e option

As far as i know you could run two instances of the client to get your cpu up to 100%. just make sure you give them different client ID's and you should be fine. I did it before i got vmware running.

What CPU do you have?
if you set the config to -smp X (x being the number of cores your cpu has) then it will use that amount of cores.
One exception being if you get an a1 WU. Which as far as I understand doesn't have the ability to use more than one core. A2, and A3's do. So if you set smp to the number of cores you have, and get an a2 or a3, then your proc should hit 100%

alrighty.. ill give the smp 8 and a verbosity 9 a shot
id rather not run multiple instances if i dont have to
EDIT -smp 8 isnt working.. keeps crashing it.. tried 4 as well even though i have HT on
EDIT2: running 2 instances for now.. keep the ideas coming!
reinstall of windows is waiting on a 300gb v-rap
To fully utilize a i7, requires 4 uniprocessor clients (really it takes 8 with HT, but that slows down individual returns and is bad for the science). You'll make about as much as 4000 ppd or so. Running a3 WUs in SMP2, you'd make 18,000 ppd. Follow the guide in the stickies.
