After selecting "Insert into post"

I just get this screen. It waited over 30 minutes for it to do something :(
I restarted the browser (Win7 x64 & IE8) to no avail

I'm going to bed :(

Hopefully it works tomorrow....

Very sorry, I missed this. If you're using IE, that'll do it. Try Firefox or Chrome. I think Opera works but haven't tried personally.

Added to the image tutorial: "Do not use Internet Explorer to upload or insert images. It will not work. Microsoft + Open Source = FAIL."

I've used it plenty of times before :(

Thanks Jeremy :)

IE is unreliable with it, not sure why. :/

Miah should lose a star or three for still using IE. Just my $0.02 worth :p

I have always used Firefox yet I still am missing the image upload button....should I wait patiently or mention it so IMOG knows its not fixed?

I'll be embarrassed as heck if the problem is on my end.

I sent my pics to deadly but have not heard back....

I am going to try using Chrome.

Seen this with ehume and dfonda. Ehume reported the problem in both chrome and firefox, so the issue is not browser specific.

I'd recommend logging in with dfonda's account and seeing if we get the same result to see if its an account issue or a pc issue. Or maybe create a new wordpress author account and see if it works right. I'm phone access only currently, so I'm pretty limited to what I can do.

That would be fine, how about I change the password and PM it to someone?

Oh and I am going to quick check with a different PC to see if that makes a difference. No difference

Here is a screen shot. Anybody see them? Thanks for helping me folks!

Thanks for bearing with us. This is something we'll need to figure out - its a pain in the neck for authors and one of my main goals is keeping this as simple as possible.

I'll be glad to send my new password to any editor who cares to try and see if they can get them to show...Splat??

You can send it to me as well. Might be a little bit, but it wouldn't hurt in case I get to mine long enough to test b/f IMOG does.

The recent move has kept me quite busy over the past week. Things are starting to mellow out a bit as we get settled. I did what I could to get the pics uploaded to the article, but the wait on the preview to load is taking a while. Hopefully it worked.

Pm sent to deadly and IMOG.

Hokie I asked IMOG to send to you if needed. Thanks for your help.

Ah deadly did you use your account or mine to upload pics?

That's a very cool layering of stars you have there, Whites over Blues...just noticed it.

Thats the exact same problem I too was getting and the same as the screenshot MIAHALLEN and dfonda has posted unable to insert the pics into post, but when you first go into the New post the buttons are there, just not there after I have started doing the new post, also have tried with Firefox , chrome and IE so looks like definitely not browser issue.
In the Albums it lets you upload the pics, but not attach to post
have also let I.M.O.G and MattNo5ss know of my issue too

i checked the article under my name, i have the upload/insert buttons. I logged in as dfonda, and in that article i didn't see them, but if i started a new article they were there. So, i have no idea what's up but it oculd possibly be remedied by clicking "html" then copying all (ctrl+a, ctrl+c), then starting a new article and pasting it in.

Thanks for the help

Good job splat, thank you for checking that out. I bet this problem was caused from the migration, and affects articles created when the upload directory rights were screwed up on the new server. Creating a new article, and copyinh everything over to it like splat descrived might do the trick. Someone try it and let us know please. Thanks for everyones help and patience.

Well that was simple, image buttons are back. I gotta tell you I never would a gotten that! I was uninstalling and reinstalling "Google Gears".:p

I brought splat into the mix for good reason. I always forget why when he annoys me, but without fail he tends to figure things out and make crap work to remind me he's around for a reason.

Edit: plus he takes abuse well, which to me, is as important as anything else. :D

I'm guessing we won't see this again, and these articles were created immediately after the site migration in a small window where the upload directory didn't have permissions reconfigured correctly.

So, probably a one time thing and we'll be good from here on out. :)

Ghost of christmas past are back according to Mudd... Creating a new article doesn't seem to fix it, once the changes are saved, the buttons disappear again.

Testing it, I can create a new article, buttons are there, upload and insert images, then save the article, and buttons disappear and I can't add any further images.

Wordpress is frustrating. Working on it.

I just tried doing the same thing Matt, creating a new article, copying the test over and then uploading images and got 2 images uploaded and now the damn thing is denying me permission to upload more images. This sucks!!!!!! Because I am leaving to go back to the rig Thursday morning and I need to get the images uploaded and finish the article for further review.:bang head

Fighting this load of horse dung program is enough to discourage people from trying to write articles, let me tell you.

Could be worse... Joe took word documents from people sent to him in email. Sometimes articles were lost entirely without a reply - sometimes you hear nothing, then BOOM published. Creating an article meant Joe uploading the images to the server and writing the raw HTML - basically converting the word document as it was submitted to an actual webpage.

When we started, I was taking the submissions via email, uploading them to dropbox, putting them in a folder for joe to review, then he was doing the formatting and publishing.

Then came wordpress...

If you think permission problems with uploading images is bad, you ain't seen nothing. ;) Wordpress has its drawbacks, but for all its drawbacks its certainly better in important ways compared to what we had on the grey site, or the joomla site that followed after that.

Issue is fixed again in my testing, can someone please confirm they are able to upload images without issue to their draft articles?

Rolescoper plugin was acting up it looks like, and reapplying/resyncing the same rolescoper settings got things working correctly again - it appears.
