Hi all ;)
Some weeks ago I have posted in a reply to someone that my celeron2 1 Ghz didn t want to go over 1240 mhz.
So...the matter is "what I have made to make it possible?" :p
Firstly have cleaned my Sk6 heatsink and lapped it, than raised the vcore to make this wanderfull cpu stabil.
The issue is that to make this celeron working at this frequency I had to raise the vcore A LOT.
Infact when the cpu were perfectly stabil @ 1240 with the vcore 1.85 setted to make it also working @ 1.3 Ghz it was necessary to increase the vcore up to 2.2 volts :burn:
Lower settings for the vcore caused instability and turning off usb ports.
So what to say? ;) Apart cpu temps that are a bit hot (57°C for the full load temp) all seem to work fine.
Maybe this summer I ll try to go higher but using a water cooling system.
Bye all
2.2V is a bit high especially with temps at 57C I would be a bit concerned if my temps were that high...are you sure thats correct???
57 Celius and 2.2v will wear down the CPU life to a year or something man. Your SK6 should be preforming alot better than that make sure you cleaned off the heatsink and core then put the thinest layer of Arctic Silver you can on.
You'd get higher just that heat is definitely an issue. You should really consider turning it down and reattach the heatsink with the thinest layer of thermal compound just to make sure your heatsink is working as it seems like its not. The SK6 should keep your Celeron at 40-45 or maybe even lower.

I think you need to check into your temps, like Yodums
said, take a look at the HS.....it may not be seated

Hi all
Hmmm...I don t want to reopen the question about my temps :D
About a month ago I started a question on this argument and there were people asking me the same things..."Check your temps cause they seem to be incorrect" ...maybe it would be true but believe me I have done all I could ...cleaned my heatsink, lapped it accuratly and recleaned it with a good "solvent", than applied well the Artic silver paste and checked if the heatsink were good seated.
After done this my idle temps were down by 3/4 °C but my full-load temps still remains about the same.
The celeron2 800 cpu I had before gave me the same temps when it was overclocked to its limit.
However the cpu seems to work pretty well and the idle temp is 32 °C
Thank you for your advertisements but I have nothing to do to solve mine mystique temp issue.
I have tried to turn on the system without the heatsink fan to control if the monitoring thermsistor were not properly working...after the o.s. load the idle temp was 50°C
So it meant that the monitoring system were working well.
About going higher than 1.3 Ghz with a coppermine core I think it will be very difficult...guys we are in front of the limit of this architecture...maybe this nice cpu will reach 1360/1380 mhz but not more I think :p
With my previous post I only wanted to dimostrate to some people that coppermine celerons are excellent cpu's and to overclock them is not a problematic issue.
I saw sometimes people asking where a Celeron2 1.0 Ghz would go...here you are, it can reach 1.3 Ghz and maybe a little more ;)
Note: It was impossible for me to reach the 1.33 Ghz frequency immediatly, I had to burn the cpu for about 2 months @ 1240 mhz.
Overclock is a beatiful experience.
Bye all :burn:
Have you tried several different programs for monitoring temps? Perhaps whatever software you are using is incorrect. Sisoft Saqndra, Motherboard Monitor, Hardware Doctor and many others monitor temps and sometimes they can all be wrong.
Oh well...if its stable then its stable. Nice OC and keep on pushing it. The highest I've seen the coppermine core with air cooling is in the 1460's

Hi deez,
Am using motherboard monitor 5.01 if i well remember...could you help me to well measure my die temperature? Maybe I wrong associated the termsistor to one of the program sensors...Maybe MBM is monitoring temperature from an external diode...
Thanks.
this may sound stupid...but could your diode be dirty? I had a friend that was reporting some weird temps one time, and when we took his cpu out to check it, there was dust  all over his diode...just a thought, however stupid it is :eh?:

Why not? It is not a stupid idea...I ll check...I never made attenction to the diode on my Abit slotket...Thanks ;)
