Got my 1.6a today! Upgraded from a P4 1.5. All I have to say is WOW!! This thing just goes and goes.
I was only able to hit 1.8 with my old 1.5. Right now I am running 2.28GHz @ 1.5v with the 1.6a. I know it will go higher if I can get some more voltage options in the BIOS (stuck at 1.5). Hopefully I can get a new BIOS update soon.
Here are some SiSoft Sandra pics for ya.

Make sure you post your results in the CPU database once you're done tweaking it! There are very few Northwood entries and many want to know how well they do!
I'll be joining you later this week! Ordered a 1.6A and an MSI board to do a little bit of OCing on! Good times. Haven't done any Intel tuning since I sold my old Celeron system.

if you want a Bios update for your motherboard that goes up to 1.85V for Northwoods just ask me for it.

My xp2000+ overclocked to 1.79 gighertz gets 5017mips
and its aircooled
all i can say is wow

I was able to boot into Win XP at 2544 @ 1.85v (really 1.75). This was not stable though. If I could bump up the voltage a bit more I think It would make it stable.

What kind of temp are you getting at 2.2?

Here's a Pic of 2512MHz
Impressive!
What are your memory scores? 157x4 RDRam :D

Did you have to lower the memory divider to hit that high of a fsb?

I left the memory set to "auto"
Actually I meant what was your Sisoft Memory Benchmarks?

Here's the memory score for 157x4
Got a 1.6a and Asus p4b(sdram) mb few days ago. it's running at 2.32GHz now(16x145, 1.6v). So far so good. According to Asus PC Probe v2.15.07, temp. is at 40c to 45c at normal use and goes up to 50c with nero encoding a svcd plus few prog. running at background. Using two fans inside the case and a not-so-good after-market cpu heatsink and fan(temp is pretty much the same with the stock Intel's heatsink and fan).

Good deal huh Noiz? I love my 1.6a.
BTW, are the temp. i'm getting alright? thinking about getting another heatsink and cpu fan to lower the temp a bit more....

the Northwoods Rock ;)
very impressive, all the scores indicate you have a kick a$$ machine there :)
Do you have any extra cooling on your memory?
Have you bumped the voltage on the memory?
Do you know what "Auto" means on the memory bios setting?
Would be nice to be able to download the manual from Abit.
It is my understanding on a Rambus system the memory runs in synchronous with the FSB at 4X and can't be changed. If so it is being overclocked by 57%, definitely not sensitive to OC! The memory benchmark indicates more like 34%, maybe the auto adds an extra wait state.

That's very cool, considering I'm getting the same components in a few days. :)

Relatively late entry here: 138x16 and still going... Just got it up and running this weekend... Any REAL HSF from one of those big boys coming down soon? I think I'm hitting my temp. ceiling so need to cool it down further before squeezing again...
BTW, did any of you run 3dmark2k1 and how does that compare? Mine @ 2.2G (138x16) seems barely a match for my AXIA TB @ 1.4G (156x9.) Obviously w/ same Graphic card and etc... This is NOT a flame bait for the AMD vs. Intel plz..... Just wondering if I'm doing anything wrong here...

He only got 4250mips in sissoft sandra
on my athlon xp2000+ overclocked to 1855 mhz i got 5216MIPS
beat that.
I know a 3 gighertz p4 gets like 5700MIPS and a XP overclocked to 2050mhz get like 5650MIPS

You probably haven't done anything wrong; Athlons are nearly unbeatable at 3DMark2001 tests. My 1.6A machine has hit its ceiling of around 7400 3DMarks. For comparisson, a friend's machine with about the same video card but with an XP running at about 1.6GHz runs over 9000. The P4s are just weak with the 3DMark2001 benchmarks. They're not too terribly meaningful as a benchmark, anyway....cooler to watch than anything else.
I've benchmarked several machines with several programs. The P4 does fairly well in ScienceMark (beats both of the Athlons in my home) with a score of about 150 (IIRC), and runs my standard test (QIII 1024x768, full detail options) at 164; 10 better than any of my other machines. However, it gets smacked down grand royal in Serious Sam : the Second Encounter tests (Athlons are known to dominate this one), and 3DMark tests, along with most SpecViewPerf tests (more of a video card test, anyway.)
In conclusion, it's true what most people say; the P4 is just good at some things, and the Athlon is good at others. There is no uberprocessor to rule all. I know this firsthand.
