Heya!

I'm running a Celeron2 1.2 @ 1488 124fsb (41.3mhz pci) 1.55v on a Bh6 (rev 1.01) with a PL-iP3/T (modded). And not too long ago I got a 60gb 7200rpm ibm ide drive from mwave.com... Anyone know if it will run at 44mhz pci bus? It would be nice to run @ 1600mhz and the only thing holding my back is not having a 1/4 pci div. How do I know this for sure? Well, I don't. But I do know, using the power of linux (had say something...), booting up @ 1600 (and using it for a min or 2) I get lots and lots of hard drive errors...
"/dev/hda2 write error, setting dma to (0)" (Not a true quote, but it goes something like that) and so on... But now with the ibm drive, I may be able to try 133fsb.
Anyone have this drive? What speed does it crap out on? What mobo?

Would just like to get some input before I boot up @ 133 and have to fix a partition if something goes, wrong...

Thanks :)

Ps. Mods, It's both a cpu and mobo post, no need to move it :)

I have a 40gb IBM GXP 7200 ata100, I am only running a 42mhz bus speed and it seems to do very well. I have not tried it at 44mhz, but it should work. I also have the same CPU that you have and I get errors when I try to run it at 1.6 and a 33mhz bus speed. The errors you are getting could be getting generated by the cpu and not the hard drive.

IBM is a very popular brand and they have good quality. They do run very well on high bus speeds.

I can tell you for certain a BH6 1.01 does not have a 1/4 PCI. Only 1.1 and up do. I'm running my 60 gig 60GXP on a 40 MHZ PCI and it seems fine. Never tried up to 44.

Running mine on a 41.5 with Fujitsu 15gig and a Quantm 20.5 AS Fireball and it's good :D

Yup and Yup :)
I'm running my 60gb @ 41.3 right now, and it's fine...

I was thinking I could boot off my slack8 disk, mount my / partiton thats on the 60gb ibm as READ ONLY and read stuff from the drive for a good 10-20min to see if I get any errors...
So if something does go wrong, I'm not going to be fixing a partition/lose data...

Update: Just gave it a run @ 133.fsb.
Booting off the Slackware 8 cd, mounting my / partition with -r (read only). did a 'cat <1.4gig.avi> > /dev/null' and it would error after a min or 2 :/.
Did, 1.65v, 1.7v, 1.75v, and 1.8v, same thing...
And just to make sure, Went back to 124fsb 1.55v and piped the cat into null again, and it worked fine. Did it 2 times... Well, looks like I'll have to get a board with a 1/4 pci div before I can see anything more than 1488 :(

Thanks for all your input :)

My Drive is running at 45mhz. My dividers are at 3-3-1. Not one hiccup yet. SCSI POWER! :)

what about an upgrade to a be6-2 board? I had one of these that did 150fsb at 1/4 pci to make 350@525 pentium2 but the board died oneday :( now I have a abit bh6 which I got very cheap off ebay. no need for a be6-2 since I run my celerons. board is stable up to 112fsb using the pentium2
