View Full Version : 266mhz bus CPU work on 200mhz MOBO??
hello, I want to upgrade my system to from 900mhz to 1.4. I don't know if a 266mhz bus CPU would run on 200mhz bus mobo (overclocked to 220mhz). thanks

seriously guy I would think about getting a new MoBo before I would upgrade chips................. I would at the very least get a MoBo with the KT 133A chipset that way ya can run them 266 chips with no problem...............by the way you "should" be able the run a 266 fsb chip at 200fsb...................but a 1.4/266(10.5x133) would only run at 1050(10.5x100)............like I said earlier I would think about changeing out your MoBo ............I like Abit MoBo's

Yea, you can run a 1.4 266 on a 200 fsb motherboard. you would need to unlock cpu and raise multiplier to 13 and raise fsb up. I would suggest raising vio voltage up if you plan on going past 105 fsb

I using an asus a7v
Ok I do not understand what U R trying to say.. I can't change multipliers on my MoBo but on the CPU maby.
I'm running my VIA KT-133,100mhzFBS @ 110mhz so that makes my AMD.9 ,200mhz CPU @ .99,220mhz now my system has never been stable at 110FBS till like weeks ago (weird) Im planning to do the same with the 1.4, So that will make it like a 1.54ghz220mhzFBS. Would that be faster than 1.4@266mhz
I'm on buget so I can't buy a CPU, MOBO and Rams just CPU or mobo
