Ok I just acquired a i3 540 and I should be able to get it stable at about 4.2-4.6 while keeping temps and voltage down as low as possible(always the goal) My questions to you guys.

How many ppd's will the i3 push out when oc'd to over 4.0ghz obviously with HT enabled. 4gb ddr3 1600mhz ram Asus p55 board. Probably a Megahalem with 2 r4 coolermaster fans or 2 120mm tricools running in a push/pull config.

I searched for threads about i3's and folding but didn't see anything. I seen a google F@H benchmark showing 2250ppd for the i3 but don't know the clock or the project it was working on.

Would it be beneficial to keep the i3 and fold with it or sell it and build another i7? I mean faster is always better for folding :D

Let me hear your input.

i would say it is 1/2 ppd of i7 920@4ghz w/ HT
according to fahspy I can get 13k+ on A3. So you probably going to get 6-7K ppd.

I say sell it and build i7 :)

i'd say sell it and build the i7 and run bigadv. But if that isn't in the budget to get one, I would think it would do a good 13kppd.

ChasR will know for sure, not only that I'd bet he could tell you which direction to face the tower to fully utilize the earths gravitational field in order to align the molecules in the proteins to maximize your PPD. =D

Actually, I believe its the Earth's magnetic field that links the CPUs with the world wide uber brain, often referred to as Cognos; or Cogy for those in the know. :comp:

<--------- obvious uber brain connection....you think they always put horses in space?

Of course its a conspiracy to spy on every computer user for purposes only the ultra secret world government knows for sure.

I'm surprised you had the fortitude to bring this topic so close to the surface; I commend your bravery. :salute: Goodbye.....RUN, or in your case WADDLE !! fast....
