You can see my overclocking the radeon 8500 if you want, but i need help.

i see all these people with nice high scores on 3dMark2001 of like 9850 and such. how do i do it. i got the newest drivers and my score went down. im running it at like 289/290, and i get 8700. i know im asking for a llot, but can anyone help me get into the 900's?

I have heard the newest drivers actually slow things down a bit. The drivers that came out in November seem to be the faster of the bunch, but do not look as good.

The Radeon 8500 also seems to rely on the system a lot. But your system seems good, maybe ome more ram to get the last little bit.

I hav found that if you just spend time tweaking the settings you will find some that will give you that little bit extra.

On the other hand, will you ever really be able to tell the difference between what you have and 9000, or even 10000.

edit: I just saw that you have XP, I think win98 or 2000 will give you a few extra points too.

i think that's a pretty good score, i get around 93xx benching with default settings and my xp is running at 1.7 and my 8500 is 310/290. John1975 is right about the score drop with the new drivers. mine was very small, (about 50 3dmarks) but totally worth it for the image quality improvement.
about all you can do is try to o\c your xp a bit more or try tweaking some settings on the radeon.
