View Full Version : BC2 Issue
Just bought BC2, played 4 rounds... at the end of each round the game crashes to desktop. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm not sure, but I wanted to comment that connecting to certain servers, I would find that the game crashes to desktop. This happened to my friend as well, but it would sometimes be different servers.
For instance, he would be able to join a server, and when I tried to join that same server, the game would crash to desktop. When I tried joining other servers, nothing would happen.
My guess is at this point it's a bug.
Mine crashes sometimes if I get disconnected from a server and hit the ok at the "u sir have been disconnected" message which rarely happens. Other than that, nope.
Try installing new drivers for vcard and latest DirectX as well as C++ 2005 redistributable.

CTD in BC2 often caused by realtek or soundmax drivers for onboard sound, try disabling the device in device manager and see if you still crash, if not you can uninstall the sound drivers and use a generic driver through windows.
Wait a minute ... you were actually able to get Bad Company 2 to launch?
Jesus you got luckier than me, when I doubleclick the icon to launch the game all the fans inside my case stop spinning and my motherboard beeps at me like it has no RAM in the DIMM slots.

+1 on that . My brother had the same problem , crash back to desktop . Used the generic Windows7 drivers for his onboard Realtek (Evga x58 Tri-Sli) = no more problems .
Mine works great with this new patch tho every now and then usually every other day i will say play couple games and crash to desktop.
hopefully they fix it and the knifing problem.

mine would crash to desktop if the graphics were to high
example everything on high and 2560-1600 , then disable SLI on my 295.. it will crash as the game starts.
Well I must say EA got their stuff together. I gave up on the game for several week following my post... I heard a new patch was released that fix some bugs and thought that I would see if it did anything. I have been playing a couple days a week for the past couple weeks with absolutely no problems whatsoever. On top of that they fixed many of the features (server browsing, play now, etc) that didn't work before. IMHO the game is very good now that everything works.
