Hi guys as you can see my new SSD isn't exactly performing up to par with what is expected! I'm using it in my ASUS G73JH laptop. The specs on the laptop are: Intel Core i7@2.8GHz, 6GB DDR3 1333MHz, ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5870, Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and the Intel X-25m 80GB. It is the only storage drive that I have in my laptop. It is in ACHI mode and write caching is enabled., Burst rate is 95.0 MB/s The minimum read is 95.2 MB/s, Maxium is 150.9 MB/s, and Average is 142.5 MB/s Why is it performing so badly? Thank you!

I can only see you are not using the right program to measure!!! Last I checked, HDTUne and HDtach were for mechanical drives and not accurate for SSDs...

Use ATTO and AS SSD and put screenshots of those up please!

Thanks for your quick response EarthDog! Here's the results for the ATTO benchmark:

Are these looking better?:eh?:

Now do AS SSD...(will take a few minutes to run that one)

Those look fine to me though!

Writes seem low for the Intel G2....Check in the BIOS and confirm AHCI and not IDE mode.

Alright guys here's the AS SSD Benchmark results! I remember the specs of this SSD are 250 MB/s Read and 70 MB/s Write. Do these seem about on par?

Looks good to me, but Im not sure you are in ACHI mode as it says Iastor. Im not sure what that is........

Writes seem low for the Intel G2....Check in the BIOS and confirm AHCI and not IDE mode.Writes look fine. Those drives are notoriously slow in sequential writes. But wicked fast in random which is what matters.

I just looked at my BIOS and ACHI or whatever it is is enabled. Is there something going on there? Otherwise it does seem to be putting out. It scored a 7.7 on the Windows Experience Index. I'm not too sure what that IaStor blah means. Time to Google!

I'm a little lost on this IaStor and MSAHCI drivers, how and what way should I go about doing this?

I looked in my Device Manager and people are saying that it should say something different under the selection that I selected under drives.

Performance-wise, the drive is dead on for a 80GB Intel.

Make sure your firmware and Intel RST driver are up to date.

Looks fine to me.
My Vertex is faster in sequintial write, but i think it trades off with random write.
I get something like 250read and 150 write, but random write is like 80.

How long should the "AS SSD" test be taking on a non-SSD drive? And how long should it take on an SSD drive?

Looks perfectly normal for a SSD.
