i got mine at 1.79 gighertz stable
I got my 1700+ to 1.78 GHz stable, I can boot Windows @ 1.81 but itīs not stable in games and 3DMark 2001.

Yeah but your sig says 13x143, uh that would be a 2100 and it would be running at 1859 Mhz. You meant to say 12.5x143.

A little hard core is'nt it. Having a bad day maybe?
Hey Ridex, welcome to the forums. I am sorry that this is what you have gotten for an introduction. Most here are really helpful. I am sure that he was just having a bad day. Welcome aboard.
Ridex Welcome to overclockers.com.

PS Myself and I, there's no need to insult members of overclockers.com. I have recently come across another post on another forum (Won't mention which forum) where you are flaming again. I can say that your attitude will not be tolerated here......

I wasnt insulting anyone
i was just asking if he understood english
i mean if he wants i can help him out by reading the question word for word.
I know you know the answer here. That one may not be the best out there. You (and I) know that pelting it will take you there. See you over at Icr.:)

your absolutley correct.
My next system is going to be super cooled
this week im installing about 370cfm of airflow in my full tower
delta 80cfm
2 92mm 74 cfm each
3 80mm

I got away from air some time ago when my Duron 750 just would not perform. This 1.4 t-bird won't go over 1450 on an aluminum (ocz dominator) heat sink with a ys tec fan. Knew this was a problem. Built a high volume water block to get here but now it is done. The most it can handle is 2.35v. This is good but I'm fighting to hold ambient. The xps (and I think future revisions) will definately respond better to extreme temps with moderate voltage. I am looking as well. Saw that some of the vapochill sites no longer carry the AMD version due to processor breakage. Definately is frustrating at times.

Hey i just got some ys tech 92mm fans that blow 74cfm each
i am putting those in my 2 blowholes hopefully it might help.
I plan on doing the voltage mod this week by buying some smd grabbers at radio shack and going from there.
another thing i want to do is insulate my case with some thick padding . If i cant get past 1.8 gighertz than air cooling is not for me
oh yeah i bought some acrtic silver 3
I forget but it is unlocked, right? Get a cheap waterblock, (I run with a bong) and a vmod. I would skip more fans as with the h2o there just isn't much heat in the case. The water and vmod (I would expect to hit 1.9. 2.0 with a pelt. I do not think you have a bad chip. I'm going to more extreme cooling on this xp1600 as (like you) I'm getting a bad oc and I have to go extreme some time. I am not buying another chip till this is done.
I have been in touch with Mr. Leughken in regards to his pel-block and am awaiting his results on a xp2000 with a 156 tec. He is looking to go over 2.0Ghz. This solution (pel-block) may not be for everyone. I am just looking around.

Well i had to rma the chip and im getting it back thursday
i hope to have a newer stepping
I did unlock it but for some reason my abit kr7a woundnt boot after i rebuilt it with the alphapal
I said screw it and just rma the mobo and cpu
Although the weird part was when i was taking out the mobo i did notice some thermal greese or some residue maybe from acrtic silver on the underside of the mobo which could of caused the short.
I just decided to send it back anyway. but i dont think im going to unlock the chip again do you think i should?
oh yeah when i did unlock it i had all the multiplyers but i still couldnt get past 1.79 gighertz but that was with a volcano 7 , i never did get to try it with the alpha.
I think everything will work out once i do the mods
Remember, this is me (and my opinion). Observation, you are looking for a high 1.9 to 2.0 oc. The thermal paste under the mobo? Who knows and at this point unimportant. You will not be happy with a low oc (read under 1.9 - sorry, but it is obvious). If you settle for a low oc, I believe you may do something - shall we say not good for you or the computer.
Game plan. Probably not going to happen on air (yes there are some that get "the" chip- never me.). Solution, may make it on water. Go with a bong setup for now as you are not going to pelt right away and vapochill is expensive and iffy on availability. Vmod that will allow up to 2.0v (don't believe you will need more with an xp chip and am pretty sure you won't with extreme cooling). This setup may very well get you into the mid to upper 1.9s and may even break 2.0. The system is now setup to pelt if you choose to in the future and at a good cost. Radiator may be installed later if pelting is decided on. The addition of more exterior case fans need not be done and the system will be MUCH quiter (sp).
Look at reality, you already know how to unlock the processor. I would burn it in for a few while you get the bong ready and h2o in. I have been running prime 95 in the background for the last three days and have picked up 30mhz of stability. At worst it lets you know that the board and chip are good.
Big letters "YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH XP1600s RUNNING AT 1.9 WHILE YOU ARE AT 1.8." Look at anything 2.0v and under my watercooling does not break 30c. You are going to have to down one of these roads sooner or later and I would like to see you a happy chap.:)

Hey i think you are definitly right about the burn in process
When i first installed my computer i bump the fsb as high as possible to 1.79 gighertz.
The weird part was i was stable at 145 fsb for awhile and they i started to get random reboots in games and now its kinda hard to just boot into windows at 1820mhz
I am definitly going to burn in the cpu first
maybe someone with electricl engineering can explain more detail how this works
Read an article on it somewhere and they explained electron migration. I think the long and short of it is you are accelerating the processors degradation. This is not of real import to most of us as having the same processor 5 years down the road is...well, unlikely. Do you remember seeing Opp with like five radiators? Let's see 1-220w plus 4 on the chiller? Don't think I will go that extreme. Andy is running a vapo isn't he? Maybe he could hook you up if you are interested in one. I can't afford that route. I really do think that a desent chip with bong cooling, a slight vmod and real good numbers would be in your future.
One more thing, I believe I have a pomona grabber around the house somewhere. The rat shack ones are too big. The pomonas work great.

1.85mhz with no mods yet. 1.93mhz, but won't pass Prime 95 torture test. All I have for case cooling is 2 80mm fans as exhaust. You don't always need massive cooling for a good O/C, just well placed cooling. By the way my temps have never seen over 48c.

I agree with the Punk, but lets get back to O/Cin'.....OK?

Solid, now get it stable. What stepping did you get?
